Current Class: January 14, 2025 - April 8, 2025

Notary Public Preparatory is an on-campus, 12-session (36 contact hours) course that provides preparation for Louisiana's State Notary exam that is given no less than twice a year. The course will prepare you for the 2025 Louisiana State Notary exam offered multiple times per year.

Class discussions will focus on the transactions that notaries are authorized to draft and execute as granted by Louisiana law. The transactions include but are not limited to: mortgages, immovable property conveyances, motor vehicle conveyances, leases, contracts, legal descriptions, successions, wills, trusts, and community property regime. The Louisiana court system and the Notary Public's role within that system will be included in the discussion. Please note that successful preparation for the exam will require extensive reading outside of the classroom. This class will be held in-person on the Loyola Uptown Campus.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a Loyola University New Orleans Certificate of Completion and 3.6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Workforce Innovation & Opportunities Act

Are you a job seeker?

Have you recently been laid off from your job? Have you only been able to obtain part-time work? Have you been self-employed, but the economy or a natural disaster has put you out of business? Have you been dependent on the income of another family member and are no longer supported by that income; and are unemployed or underemployed?

WIOA Training Funding

If you are unemployed or underemployed, you may qualify for the Workforce Innovation & Opportunities Act (WIOA) funding. In Louisiana, WIOA awards may cover tuition and courseware fees for qualifying individuals; award totals vary per Parish and individual application. Training programs are approved through the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC), and individual WIOA applications are submitted and approved through the local Parish workforce offices.

The Notary Public Preparatory course is an LWC approved training program.

How do I find out if I qualify?

To find out if you qualify for WIOA funding, you may contact your local workforce office or register on the Louisiana Workforce Commission HiRE website. JOB1 serves as the local workforce office for the New Orleans region. If you would like to learn more about WIOA, visit our WIOA page or contact our Workforce Development & Partnerships Administrator, Chelsea Gaspard, at crgaspar@loyno.edu

The application and approval process takes approximately 1 month. If you think you may be eligible for WIOA funding, we recommend that you start the application process 1-2 months prior to the start of the course.
