LaNasa Memorial Scholarship

The purpose of the LaNasa Memorial Scholarship is to promote excellence in the fields of study available for post-traditional students by offering incentives to talented students. This scholarship is a partial scholarship. Any remaining tuition balance and course materials will be the responsibility of the applicant. 

Eligibility:

Scholarship Awards will be made to post-traditional Loyola students seeking career enhancement via certification or other professional programs, and/or degree seeking, post-traditional students.

Requirements:

1. A completed online application.
2. Applicant must be at least 25 years old.
3. Applicant must have a minimum of an associate's degree or relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree.
4. A copy of your resume.
5. A letter of recommendation.

* Scholarship awards can not be combined with any discounts listed on the Tuition Requirements tab.

* Your application is not complete until the Office of Professional and Continuing Studies receives your supporting documentation. All supporting documentation can be emailed to PACS@loyno.edu. 

Please Note the Following:

- If you apply for the LaNasa Memorial Scholarship, please do not register into the Paralegal Certificate Program until you receive notification of your application status. You will receive further registration instructions in your award status notification email. You will receive a notification email 1-2 weeks after submitting your LaNasa Scholarship application. 

- For WIOA Training funding information, please see the Workforce Funding Tab.

- If eligible for WIOA funding, the Office of Professional and Continuing Studies will grant only one (1) award. You can not combine the LaNasa Scholarship Award and WIOA funding, if approved.

Workforce Innovation & Opportunities Act (WIOA)

What is WIOA Training Funding?

In Louisiana, WIOA awards may provide up to $8,000 for qualifying individuals to train in approved programs to advance their careers. Training programs are approved through the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LA Department of Labor), and individuals are approved for funding by the local workforce offices. 

Loyola University's Paralegal Certificate Program is an LWC approved training program. 

Am I eligible for WIOA funding? 

Have you recently been laid off from your job? Have you only been able to obtain part-time work? Have you been self-employed, but the economy or a natural disaster has put you out of business? Have you been dependent on the income of another family member and are no longer supported by that income; and are unemployed or underemployed?  

If you have answered yes to any of the questions above, you may qualify for the Workforce Innovation & Opportunities Act (WIOA) funding. 

What are the next steps?

To find out if you qualify for WIOA funding, you may contact your local workforce office or register on the Louisiana Workforce Commission HiRE website. JOB1 serves as the local workforce office for the New Orleans region. If you would like to learn more about WIOA, or contact our Workforce Development & Partnerships Administrator, Chelsea Gaspard, at crgaspar@loyno.edu. 

The application and approval process takes approximately 1 month. If you think you may be eligible for WIOA funding, we recommend that you start the application process 1-2 months prior to the start of the course.

Admission Requirements:

• Fluency in English
• High School Diploma or GED
• Word processing and basic Internet skills
• Participants are required to have Internet access and email
• Google Chrome Web browser is preferred

Completion Requirements:

• Students must successfully complete the Essential Skills Core curriculum and each substantive course. 
• Students are expected to spend approximately 360 hours online while working in the program.
• Class projects, including legal research, exams, and a comprehensive final will be administered. 
• Participants must achieve at least 70% cumulatively on the substantives, as well as 70% in Essential Skills in order to earn the certificate. 

• Students will earn a Loyola University New Orleans Certificate of Completion and CEU's upon successful completion of this program.
